Why Plastic Surgeon
The training of plastic surgery in Hong Kong is stringent and comprehensive.
It consists of two years of fundamental surgical training and followed by four
years of professional clinical training.
The scope of training consist of: |

Neoplasm of head and neck |

Facial trauma |
4. |
Aesthetic surgery of head and neck, trunk & extremities |
5. |
Plastic surgery of the breast |
6. |
Plastic surgery of the hand, upper & lower extremities |
7. |
Plastic surgery of congenital & acquired defects of the trunk & genitalia |
8. |
Burn management, acute & reconstructive |
9. |
Reconstruction by flaps & grafts |
10. |
Plastic surgery of benign & malignant lesions of the skin & soft tissue |
Upon completion of the training, doctor must pass the professional examination before they can
be registered as plastic surgeon. As there are renowned oversea examiner presence in the examination
as independent assessor. The examination is of the same standard as those in other advanced countries
like USA and Europe. After becoming a plastic surgeon, doctor must keep abreast of the latest development
in the profession through continue medical education.
All Plastic surgeons in Hong Kong should be the fellows of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and
the fellows of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong in the Specialty of Plastic Surgery. Plastic
surgeons know the best interest of their patients and can perform operation safely with best outcome.
There are no qualifications such as cosmetic surgeon or aesthetic surgeon in HK. Doctor who claims
himself as cosmetic surgeon or aesthetic surgeon is illegal.
